what's in a name?

Irish Higher Education's National Digital Learning Repository is now officially called the National Digital Learning Repository (NDLR) after months of debate and discussion, with a whole range of proposed "catchy" names and some very strong Irish language contenders. Still isn't that what democracy is all about? Anyway, the main Irish language proposal will now be used for NUI Galway's internal repository, An Tobar Feasa (Well of Knowledge/Wisdom).

The NDLR project is busy supporting a whole range of different academic subject communities in their use of repository and learning object technologies. One example, that we are working for in Galway, is the Modern European Languages community. A basic blog has been set up and it also now has its own podcast. If you want to listen to a short (8 mins or so) explanation of what the NDLR is about, for a non-technical audience, then you can listen to me talking to Christina McDonald Legg by clicking on this link.
