Which degree?

The UK's university and colleges admissions service (UCAS) has released data revealing the most popular subject areas in UK universities, as measured by acceptances this year. Top of the list is Law, followed by "Design Studies" and then, Psychology. The next three most popular are Management Studies, Business Studies and Computer Science and the remaining four are English Studies, Medicine, Sports Science and Social Work.

This represents quite a shift over the last ten years from the more "traditional" subject disciplines. The use of the word "studies" crops up time and time again in subject titles and that might be making a point about their focus, content and level. Gone also, are the traditional sciences from the top ten and no sign of languages either.
