How organisations get stuck

To what extent are the issues of 'overload' and innovation fatigue that Rebecca Henderson (Eastman Kodak Professor at MIT) researches in major companies similar to contemporary university work?

"She describes companies overloaded with projects, incapable of making thoughtful decisions, finger pointing when things go wrong."

She gave a presentation recently, recorded and distributed through MIT World just today and you can view it here. There's a lot of preamble setting the context of the particular event (on environmental sustainability) and she labours the point considerably once she makes it (and there are a few management cliches: "its an opportunity, not a problem"), but to get to the main message of her work on why organisations 'get stuck' slide along to 16m:43s in the video player (MIT World uses Real video format)
