Following on from the earlier piece, there's a book review in the same edition which looks at "Tapping the riches of science". A nice throw-away quote summarising the authors' research on the real effectiveness of technology transfer initiatives in the US is 

"The most effective vehicle for technology transfer is still the moving van."

Whether the story in Ireland will be the same or not, we'll see in the fullness of time.
