Higher Education, commercialism and ethics - discuss

A small news item on RTÉ this week on a commercial activity run by DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) in collaboration with food companies, which involved getting children in schools to do food tasting for new products including burgers and crisps, has raised some concerns about consent and other ethical aspects. You can watch the news item here. I wonder what you think of the "educational" justification offered by the DIT spokesperson.

DIT's press office has released a statement after the report: http://www.dit.ie/DIT/news/2006/food-children.html
