idea of a university

For the past few weeks, BBC Radio 4 has been running a 
series of documentaries by Martha Kearney entitled "The Idea of a University." It is very interesting, though disappointlingly totally Anglo-centric with no regard at all for historical developments elsewhere. That's a shame. A more international perspective would have provided a deeper exploration and illustrated just how introverted the English HE system has been historically.
