news snippets

(1) The IUA has released, this week, the details of a cooperation accord between the Irish unviersities that will, presumably, bring closure to the debate over "poaching" that has featured in the news in recent weeks.

(2) The Irish Higher Education Quality Network (IHEQN) is holding its annual conference in Dublin on October 17th, exploring issues of quality assurance and professional accreditation.

(3) The Modern Languages "Community of Practice" of the National Digital Learning Repository (NDLR) is organising a launch event on Tuesday 26th September, European Day of Languages. Dr. Allison Phipps from the University of Glasgow will be giving an invited lecture which will be accessible through a live webcast. For details of how to access/view this, visit the CoP's blog pages in the coming week. Nearer the time, we'll put a direct link on this website also.

(4) Another interesting resource that's reasonably readable is the UK's Higher Education Academy Academy Exchange magazine. The most recent issue (summer 2006) is on "the student experience" and can be downloaded as a pdf here.
