Drew Gilpin Faust has been named as Harvard's new President and the first female to take up the post. She will enter office on July 1st. The BBC has a short clip of her acceptance of the post.
Harvard's task force on General Education, which we discussed last year in this blog, has now published its final report in which it describes a new model of a liberal or general education, representing a major change to the 'core curriculum' model which has been in operation to date. A brief description of the new curriculum areas (which are not based on traditional academic discipline boundaries) is available here.
