Je pense, donc je suis
It would seem, from a report in this week's Education section in the Guardian, that the skills and approach to problem solving of philosophy graduates are beginning to be more widely appreciated by employers and that the subject is, rightfully, being recognised as a fundamentally invaluable subject of study that enhances rather than jeopardises career and employment prospects.

The TED Blog last week points to the British Psychological Society report concerning long-term benefits to teaching 10-year olds through philosophical inquiry. This relates to a study of 105 children in their penultimate year of primary school, who were given one hour per week of philosophical-inquiry based lessons for 16 months. After two years, the children were still performing better than a control group of 44 non-philosophy children.
